ART WORKSHOPS and ART TOURS

I am fascinated with experiencing new places, people and exploring the wider world. I also enjoy exploring the art, the archaeology, the history, the cultures and the artists of those far countries.

I have organised and conducted art tours which include painting workshops, visits to galleries and artists’ studios. I have taken groups to Vienna, Croatia, New Zealand, Central Australia and France. Closer to home I have led workshops at Bundanon (Shoalhaven River), Colo River, Norah Head Lighthouse and Cockatoo Island Sydney Harbour and the Hunter Valley. A Lord Howe Island Art Retreat was enjoyed in September 2013.

I returned to France and Spain for our Europe Art Tour 'Mediterranean Art Escapade' in May 2014. This exciting tour featured the French Riviera (staying and painting in Henri Matisse’s villa in Vence, South France) as well as the beautiful countryside of Aragon, Spain and the vibrant art city of Barcelona.

The 'Hobart and Highlands' Art Tour was conducted in November 2014. This was a 9-day tour in Tasmania starting in Hobart with drawing/painting workshops and a visit to MONA (Museum of Old and New Art). The tour then transferred to the wilderness of the Tasmanian Highlands to enjoy workshops, excursions and the restored art-deco Cottages at historic Tarraleah.

In the Northern Spring of 2015 Ross & I led the 15-day 'Colours of America' Art and Painting Tour to the exciting south west of the USA - visiting such iconic places as the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Santa Fe and Taos. A 4-day extension tour took us to the Big Apple, New York City, to paint in Central Park and to take in iconic galleries such as the MET, MoMA and the exciting new Whitney. Tour photos can be viewed here on my website.

In October 2015 I led the 'Victorian Art Venture' where we toured the Goldfields Region of Victoria, visiting Woodend, Trentham, Kyneton, Hanging Rock, Mt Macedon, Hepburn Springs, Daylesford and Maldon. Our 15 tour participants enjoyed en plein air painting at historic houses and gardens, railway stations, cheese farms, Hanging Rock Reserve and historic dairy farms. Photos from the tour can be viewed on this website (visit the Homepage).

April-May 2016 saw us return to Europe for the spring-time 'Paint Sicily' Art Tour. This 14-day Tour allowed us to enjoy the ancient island of Sicily: rich in history, archaeology, culture & art - not forgetting the food and wine! We commenced the tour in bustling Catania before moving on to enjoy painting workshops in vibrant Taormina and in the rural landscape of Ragusa. We were mesmerized by the old Greek city of Syracuse, staying in its historical heart on the Island of Ortygia. Our relaxed journey through south-eastern Sicily allowed plenty of time for en plein air painting and personal tuition from Pamela.

In October 2016 we visited 'vintage' Fiji on our 'Paint Paradise' Fiji Art Tour. We enjoyed 7 days of painting and sightseeing in the area around beautiful Savusavu. Our painters enjoyed plenty of time to develop their works and our non-painters enjoyed the wonderful scenery, the relaxed pace and the time to photograph it all. Definitely a place that we will visit again!

Spectacular painting locations were enjoyed by everyone on our March 2017  'Art Escape Kangaroo Island' Painting Tour. On this bespoke tour we explored the secrets of this pristine island. Mornings were spent painting and drawing en plain air; afternoons saw us exploring many of the unique places on this fascinating island.

April 2018 found us enjoying inspiring Spring Colours during our 'Paint Portugal' Art Tour. We visited the medieval villages and towns of central Portugal during this 16 night tour. We found Portugal to be a captivating country with a rich history and a clarity of light which has inspired many painters over the years.

Stunning scenery and fascinating history inspired us during our 7-day painting holiday to Norfolk Island in October 2018. Our group of 14 enjoyed en plein air Workshops at beautiful locations around the island.

Our 'Victorian Painting Getaway' tour in March 2019 explored the spectacular Great Ocean Road, the Otways as well as magical Morning Peninsular. On most of our 10 days we ventured out to inspiring painting locations in this scenic region of Victoria.

'Navigate Nova Scotia' art tour was enjoyed in October 2019. This 14-night tour commenced in Halifax and then explored the coastal regions, the South Shore and the wild interior of beautiful Nova Scotia, Canada. Our artists enjoyed wonderful opportunities to paint, draw and photograph Nova Scotia in its vibrant autumn colours.

The'Focus on Fleurieu Peninsula' South Australian Art Tour in March 2021 took us to areas south of Adelaide: including the Adelaide Hills, the coastal region of McLaren Vale, the area around Victor Harbor and as far east as the Murray River.

On this 11-night Tour we stayed at 2 different hotels and ventured out a short way each day to spend time painting in inspiring locations ....at Hans Heysen's property, at a ruined timber jetty, at river gums beside the Murray River, overlooking wild southern beaches, wetland reeds, amongst grass trees in pristine bushland, and much more.

Hunter Valley 'Painting in the Vines' art tour in May 2021 was wonderfully located at Pokolbin. Staying at a boutique hotel right in a vineyard, we enjoy 4 days of blissful painting only 2 hours from Sydney.
